It designs and manufactures specialized cardiac diagnostic computer equipment for use in hospital electrophysiology laboratories under long term purchase agreements by three large US companies, GE Healthcare, Boston Scientific and Atricure Inc.

The company stands for strong ethics, customer service and innovation under the management of its founder, Dr Michael Cejnar, a cardiologist physician. Over the last 20 years, Micropace has become the #1 manufacturer and supplier of these diagnostic EP Stimulators in the USA. Our Santa Ana office serves to purchase US-sourced materials, warehouse product for faster delivery and provide local support for distributors and hospital customers. The company works within strict quality and regulatory frameworks required in the medical manufacturing field.

ENGINEER LEAD – Hardware

This is a dynamic role for a senior (5 year post BEng), hardware full stack engineer with demonstrated experience in taking mixed analogue/microprocessor products from design to market. Experience in working in a regulated, ideally medical industry, diverse problem solving abilities and prior leadership roles of small teams is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

You will have hands-on responsibility for ongoing design improvements, debugging and transfer to manufacturing of our newest product similar to an ECG machine as well as our R&D projects. You will own hardware but lead and assist software and verification teams totalling 5-6 engineers. You will mentor junior engineers and foster professional engineering practices including design documentation and traceability, compliance with applicable standards and V&V. You will have or will acquire knowledge of the entire medical device lifecycle, including requirements, standards like ISO60601-1 safety and ISO14971 risk management, EMC design and testing, FDA submission and CE Marking and complaint management and resolution, under guidance from management.

Relevant tools and skills include Altium, C/C++, RTOS, PIC uP, Python, Win CE, GIT, JIRA.

Important personal attributes include excellent communication and people skills, taking ownership of issues, self-learning gaps in knowledge, attention to detail and professional documentation.
